Hans Herbert Grimm

Hans Herbert Grimm (born June 26, 1896 in Markneukirchen , † July 7, 1950 in Altenburg ) was a German teacher and author .

Life

Grimm, the son of a businessman, studied philosophy and German and received his doctorate in Halle an der Saale in 1921 with a dissertation on the topic of the dialect of the Döbratales . He later worked as a French teacher at the Karolinum in Altenburg. Since 1925 he was born with Elisabeth. Judge married. In 1928 he published the novel Schlump under the pseudonym "Schlump" . Stories and adventures from the life of the unknown musketeer Emil Schulz, known as' Schlump ', told by himself ' about the First World War . The book was banned under the National Socialists and in 1933 it was publicly burned along with numerous other unpleasant works . The novel was reissued in 2014.

During the Second World War , Grimm was used as an interpreter on the Western Front. After the war he was dismissed from school because of his membership in the NSDAP , and later rehabilitated. He then worked for one season as a dramaturge at the Landestheater Altenburg. In the summer of 1950 he was invited to an interview with East German authorities. Two days later, he committed suicide at home.
