Hans Heyden (instrument maker)
Hans Heyden (also: Haiden ; born January 19, 1536 in Nuremberg ; buried October 22, 1613 there ) was a German musical instrument maker and organist .
Live and act
From 1567 to 1583 Heyden was the organist in Nuremberg and in 1575 he built the first Nuremberg violin work or violin pianoforte , which served as a model for all later string pianos . In 1576 the instrument was presented in the Munich court orchestra directed by Orlandus Lassus . When making the violin, the strings are made to vibrate like a hurdy-gurdy. Heyden had a description of his violin work printed under the title Musicale instrumentum reformatum in 1610 . In it he describes the advantages of the instrument, such as a long lasting tone, vibrato and the ability to bring out nuances. Of the original instruments, only the descriptions of its builder and Michael Praetorius remain .
In the Brussels Instrument Museum there is a violin work built by Raymundo Truchado in Spain in 1625, which is no longer playable.
