Hans Hornbostel
Hans Hornbostel (born March 27, 1916 in Berlin ; † November 20, 2003 ) was a German internist and university professor.
Live and act
Born in Berlin in 1916 and raised in Ratzeburg, Hans Hornbostel studied medicine at the universities of Kiel, Munich, Berlin and Bonn at the Lauenburg School of Academics in Ratzeburg after graduating from high school. After the medical state examination in Bonn in 1940, his dissertation led to the discovery of the Bacillus Hirudonicolos. Hans Hornbostel completed his clinical training as an internist - interrupted by his work as a tropical doctor in Africa from 1942 to 1944 and the subsequent prisoner of war - at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf. In 1952 he completed his habilitation with the work, experimental and clinical investigations on Cysticercus bovis and Taenia sagitana '. In 1959, after clinical work at the Universities of Hamburg, Zurich and Lausanne, he was appointed associate professor and in 1965 he was appointed head physician of the 2nd Medical Department of the General Hospital Hamburg-Harburg.
As co-editor and author of the standard manual 'Internal Medicine in Clinic and Practice' (together with Werner Kaufmann and Walter Siegenthaler ) and as editor in charge of the area 'Current Diagnostics / Current Therapy' of the ' Deutsche Medizinische Wochenschrift ' he has established himself in the German-speaking area made an outstanding name. In Hamburg, Hans Hornbostel was for many years chairman of the advanced training academy of the Hamburg medical profession, founded in 1988 and inaugurated by him.
