Hans Jörg Fahr
Hans Jörg Helmuth Fahr (born November 2, 1939 in Hanover ) is a German astrophysicist .
Career
Fahr studied physics, mathematics and philosophy at the University of Bonn from 1959 and graduated in February 1964 with a diploma. In July 1966 he received his doctorate with the thesis Ion Movement in Electric Fields Under the Influence of Charge Exchange Impacts . He was a research assistant at the Institute for Theoretical Physics at the University of Bonn. In June 1971 he completed his habilitation in astrophysics . In June 1978 he was appointed university professor and in 2005 he retired .
From 1979 to 1982 he was President of Commission No. 42 of the International Astronomical Union .
