Hans Jörgensen Samso

Hans Jörgensen Samsö (born November 10, 1661 on Samsø ; † March 1, 1738 in Rudkøbing ) was a royal Danish major general and chief of the Oldenburg National Infantry Regiment.

He served himself up to lieutenant colonel in the Venetian infantry regiment " Degenfeldt ". In 1698 he resigned from the Venetian service. He then joined the Danish auxiliaries in Italy as a volunteer in 1702 . There he was taken over in 1704 as a lieutenant colonel in the 4th Danish Infantry Regiment under von Eyndten . On November 8, 1704 he was appointed adjutant general of the corps. He was able to distinguish himself in the fighting on the island of Schütt, but it was not until October 13, 1705 that he became a regular lieutenant colonel of the 4th Danish Infantry Regiment. He was then in command of the fighting for the village of St. Benedicte in Transylvaniaon April 6, 1706. On April 2, 1709 he became a real lieutenant colonel in the regiment. In the autumn of the same year the regiment returned to Denmark. On June 6th, 1710 he was appointed the real colonel and chief of the Oldenburg National Infantry Regiment, on October 11th, 1728 he was appointed major general. In 1737 he said goodbye and died unmarried on March 1, 1738 in Rudkøbing.
