Hans Jiricek

Hans Jiricek (born December 27, 1888 in Vienna ; † June 25, 1959 ibid) was an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) and health insurance director. He was a member of the Austrian National Council and a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament .

Life

Jiricek attended elementary and community school and learned the trade of metal lathe operator and mechanic. In the profession he learned, he worked between 1904 and 1919. In 1921 he joined the social security service, from 1938 he was assistant foreman in the Wiener Lokomotivfabrik AG and from 1945 director of the Viennese regional health insurance for workers and employees .

Jiricek began his political career as a shop steward and deputy chairman of the social democratic district organization in Hernals and as a district councilor in Hernals. Between May 20, 1919 and May 11, 1921, he was a member of the Lower Austrian Landtag, where he was a member of the Vienna Curia from November 10, 1920, and a Viennese delegate from December 30, 1920 during the phase of separation between Vienna and Lower Austria. He also represented the Social Democratic Party between March 13, 1929 and February 17, 1934 in the National Council ( 3rd and 4th legislative period ). In the wake of the Austrian civil war and the ban on the Social Democratic Party, Jiricek lost his seat in the National Council and was arrested. He was sentenced to two months' arrest and was in "detention" between 1934 and 1935. Jiricek was imprisoned for political reasons between 1941 and 1945 during the Nazi era.

After the end of the Second World War Jiricek was again a member of the National Council between December 19, 1945 and November 8, 1949 ( fifth legislative period ). After his death he was buried on July 3, 1959 at the Hernalser Friedhof (group 42, no. 95).
