Hans Jordan (singer)

Hans Jordan (born May 24, 1910 in Vienna ; † 1978 ) was an Austrian interpreter of Wienerlied .

Life

He was born on May 24, 1910 in Vienna and trained as a sign and advertising painter. Even as a child he had a beautiful voice and so it was understandable that he later went public as a mood singer without any vocal training. Since he was successful, he expanded his program and appeared as a humorist with a dance group and with parodies, among others, together with Toni Strobl , so that he developed into a real mood cannon in his circles. As a Floridsdorfer, he remained loyal to his home district as a mood singer and was therefore almost always to be found in Stammersdorf, Jedlersdorf or in Strebersdorf. Here he also worked with his friend the composer Pepi Wakovsky , and he was happy that it was he who was able to launch the song “Der narrische Kastanienbaum” (text by Hans Pflanzer). Together with Pepi Wakovsky and his Schrammeln he appeared as a singer in 1947 in the Künstlerhaus. Hans Jordan loved to perform in the style of the old folk singers and so he sang the song "Stellts my Roß in 'Stall" with great pleasure as a special insert in a faker costume with pepita trousers, velvet jacket, top hat and whip.

Hans Jordan was buried in the Stammersdorfer Zentralfriedhof in Vienna- Floridsdorf .
