Hans Julius Schneider

Hans Julius Schneider (born June 27, 1944 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German philosophy professor.

Life

Schneider was born as the son of Julius Schneider and his wife Ferdinande, nee Gocke. From 1963 he studied philosophy , German and English at the Free University of Berlin , in Austin (Texas) and at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . From 1983 to 1996 he was professor of philosophy at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. From 1996 to 2009 he was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Potsdam . He is one of the co-editors of the German Journal for Philosophy . His philosophy is strongly influenced by Wittgenstein. His book Religion (2008) also made him known in theology.
