Hans Kaiser (pharmacist)

Hans Karl Thomas Kaiser (born September 24, 1890 in Villingen , † June 24, 1977 in Stuttgart ) was a German pharmacist and food chemist.

Life

After attending school, Hans Kaiser began his pharmaceutical career as an intern at the city pharmacy in Villingen . In 1912 he passed the pre-exam and then worked for a year in the farm pharmacy in Karlsruhe . In 1913 he began studying pharmacy at the local technical university , which he completed in 1919 with the state examination. He then continued to study chemistry at the TH Karlsruhe , passed the engineering examination in 1922 and obtained his doctorate in 1923. Ing. 1925 followed the state examination as a food chemist .

In 1926 Kaiser first took over the management of the hospital pharmacy in Barmen, then on July 1, 1926 the pharmacy of the Katharinen Hospital in Stuttgart , which he managed until 1955.

As early as 1929 he received a teaching position for chemical toxicology at the TH Stuttgart. In 1931 he completed his habilitation at this university, which in 1940 appointed him associate professor. In 1955 Kaiser was appointed honorary professor at the University of Tübingen .

Even after retirement, he devoted himself intensively to academic work and his numerous scientific interests.

Hans Kaiser worked in many areas. He expanded the Katharinenhospital pharmacy, which he ran, into an institute with an international reputation. Even after its destruction in 1944, he tried to rebuild the hospital pharmacy. As a university lecturer, he was the first in Germany to give a lecture on “Specialty Studies”. In addition, Kaiser has supervised numerous dissertations and written over 200 publications, mainly dealing with toxicological and pharmaceutical problems. Some textbooks were also written by him. Kaiser was twice president of the German Pharmaceutical Society, 1953 and 1957.
