Hans Kayser (Egyptologist)
Hans Kayser (born January 18, 1911 in Teutleben , † October 9, 1989 in Heidelberg ) was a German Egyptologist .
Hans Kayser studied Egyptology at the University of Heidelberg under Hermann Ranke from 1930 until his doctorate in 1935 , and from 1935 to 1937 he worked there as an assistant. From 1937 to 1941 he worked at the Ducal Museum in Gotha . In 1941 he became an assistant at the Roemer- und Pelizaeus-Museum in Hildesheim under Günther Roeder and organized with him in 1943 the war-related relocation of the stocks. In 1945 he became director of the museum and in 1956 convinced the city of Hildesheim to rebuild the war-torn museum, which he was able to reopen in 1959. In 1974 he retired.
