Hans Kleina (born January 25, 1925 - December 27, 1969 ) was a German football player .

career

In the early years of the Oberliga West, Kleina was a dangerous striker at Rot-Weiss Essen (1949-1950) and FC Schalke 04 (1950-1953). He narrowly missed the top scorer crown in 1950 , but won it the following year when he contributed 23 goals to the Schalke league championship.

Problems with the hip joint made him increasingly troubled in 1953. He moved to VfL Bochum , for whom he scored 12 goals in 13 games. In mid-1954 he had to end his career. The health complaints had become too great. Kleina became a chimney sweep and lived with his family in Wanne-Eickel . In 1969, doctors diagnosed him with a heart condition, from which he died in December of the same year at the age of 44.
