Fritz Arno Wagner

Fritz Arno Wagner (born December 5, 1884 in Schmiedefeld , † August 18, 1958 in Göttingen ) was a German cameraman .

Life

Wagner was already active in film in Paris , Vienna and Berlin before he started working for Pathé Weekly in New York in 1913 . During the First World War he was a war correspondent . From 1919 he resumed his camerawork in Germany , where he was responsible for camera work in expressionist films ( Der müde Tod , Nosferatu ) as well as in many realistic dramas, especially Georg Wilhelm Pabsts .

After the Second World War he was briefly with DEFA , then involved in several entertainment films in West Germany. He died of the consequences of an accident while filming, in which he fell from a camera truck near Göttingen. Wagner was buried in the forest cemetery in Berlin-Dahlem. The tomb has since been closed.

His great-grandnephew is the SPD politician Jens Crueger .
