politics

Crueger's political engagement began in 2001 in an environmental citizens' initiative. In the same year he joined the Green Youth and was elected to their state executive in 2002. In the state elections in Bremen in 2003 , he was the youngest member of the state parliament. He worked as a child and youth policy spokesman for the green parliamentary group and was also a member of the committee for information and communication technology and media affairs, the legal committee, the environmental, educational and social deputation. He decided not to run again in the Bremen elections in 2007 in order to concentrate more on his studies. In November 2007, Crueger applied for the state chairmanship of the Bremen Greens , but was defeated in the second ballot with just one vote (52:53 votes) to his opponent André W. Heinemann . Thereupon Crueger was elected as an assessor in the state board. In January 2009 Crueger announced his resignation from all party offices and his resignation from the green party. Compared to the journalist Thomas Leif he justified this with the failed attempt to give young people "opportunities to participate" within the party.

Crueger moved to Hamburg, where he joined the SPD in 2009. Together with today's Hamburg parliamentarian Danial Ilkhanipour , he wrote a thesis paper in February 2011 entitled For a liberal social democracy , in which the SPD is described as "the only true liberal party in the Federal Republic".

On May 10, 2015, Jens Crueger was elected to Bremen's citizenship in the 2015 state election. He worked in the Committee for Port Affairs in the State of Bremen (Deputy Member), Parliamentary Advisory Council for the Metropolitan Region Bremen-Oldenburg im Nordwesten eV (Deputy Member), Legal Committee (Deputy Member), State Deputation for Culture (Member), State Deputation for Environment, Construction, Transport, Urban Development, Energy and Agriculture (member), State Deputation for Economy, Labor and Ports (member) and in the Committee for Citizen Participation, Civic Engagement and Advisory Boards (Deputy Member).

Crueger was a member of the advisory board of the State Center for Political Education Bremen and of the future committee of the Broadcasting Council of Radio Bremen . He is a member of the Bund-Länder discussion group of the Berlin Progressive Center think tank and of the historical commission of the SPD Bremen .
