Hans Konrad (folk singer)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johann Baptist Konrad (born November 16, 1876 in Würzburg , † after 1908) was a German folk singer and humorist.

Life

Hans Konrad was born on November 16, 1876 in Würzburg. From there he went to Munich and became a member of the Albrecht brothers' singspiel company, which included Josef (“Seppl”) and Hans Albrecht as well as the folk singers Harlander, Holzapfel and Materna. The company performed in the hotel "Drei Löwen" on Schillerstrasse in Munich. Konrad worked in the ensemble as a singing comedian.

A date of death is not known.

repertoire

Like his folk singer colleagues August Junker and Alois Hönle , Konrad also moves with his lecture material in the world of the little people from the Munich suburbs, one of his couplets is entitled “Ham Sie a Hess vo der Au!” And names the district in which Karl Valentin was born in 1882. Local types such as “Lucki von der Au ” and “Nazl vo Feldmoching ” appear, a lecture describes the “secret language” of the suburbs, which is incomprehensible to “Zuag'roaste”, as a “Munich Volapük”. Typenkomik offer lectures such as the one on the “Automaxe”, the “Weiberfeind” or the two traveling musicians; a comical speech deals with "The fight against immorality", which threatens to tear down in Munich, which is growing up into a big city. There is also a lot of musical stuff like a “serenade”, the song of the sweet mouse Lotte, a “declaration of love” and even a couplet that does without a refrain. The only question that remains is: "What is it that is sleeping?".
