Hans Kostwitz , also Hans Koswitz , actually Hans Kos ( April 25, 1863 in Brno - March 9, 1926 in Chemnitz ) was an Austrian child actor , theater actor , opera singer ( tenor ) and theater director .

Life

Hans Kostwitz, the son of an Austrian court clerk, was employed in children's roles from an early age until he decided in 1886 to become an actor after adequate preparation.

He began in Marburg , was then engaged as an opera and operetta tenor in Krems , St. Pölten , Hermannstadt , Wiener Neustadt , Nuremberg , at the residence theaters in Hanover , Wiesbaden and Dresden , as well as in Bremen , but went gaunt in 1897, especially his long ones Because of his character, he moved into the character comic subject and in 1899 became a member of the ensemble of the Carl-Schultze-Theater in Hamburg as a singing and character comedian , where, in addition to his work in farce and operetta, he also worked as a director. In 1910 he went to the Stadttheater Chemnitz , where in 1925 he switched to the character subject in acting. He died a little later in March 1926.
