Hans L. Ewaldsen

Hans Lorenz Ewaldsen (born September 6, 1923 in Lunden ; † February 5, 2013 in Essen ) was a German industrial manager .

Life

After graduating from high school in Flensburg in 1942, he did military service as a pilot in the air force of the Wehrmacht . He got the rank of ensign in captivity , where he remained for two years and u. a. Studied theology at the University of Montpellier .

From 1947 to 1950 he studied economics and law at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel (Dipl. Sc. Pol.). In 1951 he joined Deutsche Babcock AG in Oberhausen as an informant . In 1953 he became head of finance and accounting. In 1956 he took over the management of the group administration, in 1959 he became commercial director and in 1960 a member of the board.

In 1967 he became CEO of Deutsche Babcock & Wilcox -Dampfkesselwerke AG. In 1983 he retired from the office for health reasons. Under his leadership, the medium-sized company developed into an international group.

From 1984 to 1992 he was chairman of the supervisory board, after which he took over the honorary chairmanship. In addition to the five subsidiaries, he was a member of the supervisory boards of Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG , Stinnes AG and the Gerling group Welt-Versicherungs-Pool AG.

He was married and the father of two children.
