Hans Lorenz Andreas Vent

Hans Lorenz Andreas Vent (born April 10, 1785 in Hademarschen , † April 21, 1879 in Itzehoe ) was a German Protestant theologian .

Life

Hans Lorenz Andreas Vent was born on April 10, 1785 as the son of Hans Hinrich Vent († 1814), who had been a preacher in Hademarschen since 1779 , and studied theology. In 1809 he passed his official theological examination in Glückstadt . Two years later he accepted a position as a deacon in Tellingstedt . In the year after his father's death, he was his successor. He remained a deacon and preacher there for almost half a century, and on his 50th anniversary in 1861 he was appointed honorary consistorial councilor . Two years later, however, he retired and moved to Itzehoe, where he died on April 21, 1879 at the age of 94.

Vent belonged to Lutheran orthodoxy and was a staunch supporter of Claus Harms . In several writings he defended his theses against the theological rationalism of the time.
