Menzel belonged to the SC Wacker Leipzig as a goalkeeper , for whom he played point games in the championships held by the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs in the district of North West Saxony. As a Central German Cup winner, he and his team took part in the final round of the German Championship . He played his only final round game on June 16, 1929 at Fortuna-Sportpark, the venue of SV Fortuna Leipzig 02 , in the 1: 5 defeat against FC Schalke 04 in the round of 16 .
Selection team
As an association player, he was used in the competition for the national cup and played the final scheduled for April 19, 1931 in the stadium at Ostragehege , the venue of the Dresdner SC . The match with the selection team of the South German Football Association was lost 3: 4 afterwards in front of 30,000 spectators.
