Hans Meulengracht-Madsen, who for the Kongelig Dansk Yacht Club sailed, won in 1912 in Stockholm at the Olympic Games in the 6-meter class silver medal. He was the skipper of the Nurdug II , whose crew consisted of Steen Herschend and Sven Thomsen . In two races, the French boat Mac Miche and the Nurdug II took first and second place each, so that there was a jump-off for the overall victory between the two boats. The Mac Miche prevailed in the third race and finished the regatta in first place, leaving the Nurdug II in second place.

His brothers were both Olympic gymnasts. Vigo Meulengracht Madsen took part in the Games in 1908 and 1912 and won a bronze medal in 1912. Svend Meulengracht Madsen was Olympic champion in his only participation in 1920 with the team .
