Hans Neumüller
Hans Neumüller (born May 6, 1908 in Allentsteig , † September 17, 1953 in Spielberg near Bad Traunstein ) was an Austrian academic painter .
Life
Neumüller moved to Zwettl with his parents . From 1914 to 1923 he attended the general elementary and community school there. After his apprenticeship as a painter and house painter, he attended the then Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna, Stubenring 3. From 1936 to 1938 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . From 1938 he lived as a freelance artist in Zwettl. In 1945 he founded a special workshop for secular and sacred art in Zwettl. In 1939 he married Kunigunde Iretz, who gave birth to their daughter Kunigunde (* 1944). In 1951 he moved with his family to Spielberg, where he died of lung cancer in 1953.

In most of his works, Hans Neumüller dealt with the Waldviertel . He was at home with many techniques, from large-format oil paintings and graphic work to woodcuts and linocuts.
His main work is the ceiling fresco in the Karner of the provost church Zwettl , The Last Judgment . His last work is his unfinished picture, Windbruch 1953. His nephew Peter Neumüller, Zwettl is considered his most important collector and estate administrator.
