Hans Peter Balmer

Hans Peter Balmer (born April 12, 1945 in Hergiswil NW ) is a German-Swiss philosopher .

Live and act

Balmer grew up in Lucerne and Sursee . He studied philosophy, theology and literature at the University of Tübingen . He was in 1972 at the University of Tuebingen Karl Ulmer and Joseph Möller with a thesis on Nietzsche Dr. phil. PhD. He was with an investigation into at the University of Augsburg The European moralist habilitation . From 1979 to 2010 he taught philosophy at the University of Augsburg and at times at the Munich School of Politics .

In retirement he holds philosophical courses at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , Center for Senior Studies and at the Catholic Foundation University of Applied Sciences in Munich .

In teaching and research, Balmer deals with practical philosophy and in particular with European moral studies . The seminar events are occasionally based on significant lyrical texts such as Hölderlin's late hymns , Goethe's West-Eastern Divan , and Rilke's Duinese elegies . At the center of thought are anthropological, ethical, aesthetic, hermeneutic and religious-philosophical questions.

During his studies, Hans Peter Balmer rehearsed and performed sacred music as the director of a university choir, such as Haydn's Creation and Verdi's Requiem. He has also published some of his own aphoristic texts.
