Hans Pfaff

Johannes Georg "Hans" Pfaff (born June 29, 1896 in Zurich , † 1971 in Stäfa ) was a Swiss pastor and author .

Origin and family

Hans Pfaff was born in Zurich on June 29, 1896, the middle of three children of photographer Georg Friedrich Pfaff and Emma, ​​née Eschmann. In 1902 the family moved to Küsnacht , where the father opened a shop. From 1947 he was a citizen of Stäfa. In 1921 Pfaff married Emma Anna Stähli (1899–1981). The four daughters Eva, Regula, Johanna and Friederike emerged from the marriage.

Pastor

Pfaff studied theology at the University of Zurich and was a field preacher in the Swiss Army during the Second World War . This he accompanied two due to treason sentenced to death on her last journey. He later described this event as very formative. As a pastor he worked first in Merishausen - Bargen , then in Russikon and from 1935 until his retirement in 1961 in Stäfa. After his retirement he continued to act as deputies in various parishes in the region.
