Hans Pringsheim

Hans Pringsheim (born December 31, 1876 in Opole / Upper Silesia , † October 20, 1940 in Geneva ) was a German chemist and was particularly active in the field of sugar chemistry.

Life

Hans Pringsheim came from the German-Jewish Pringsheim merchant family from Silesia . He was the son of the railway entrepreneur (full-gauge railways) Hugo Pringsheim (1845-1915) and Hedwig Johanna Heymann (1856-1938). His younger brothers were the botanist Ernst Georg (1881–1970) and the historian Fritz Pringsheim (1882–1967).

From 1921 he was professor of chemistry at the University of Berlin . He emigrated to Paris in 1933 and worked in Geneva in a private laboratory from 1936.
