Michael John Sheridan (born March 4, 1945 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Bishop of Colorado Springs .

Life

Sheridan studied Catholic theology at St. Louis University High School and the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome , where he was awarded a Dr. theol. received his doctorate . Sheridan was ordained a priest on May 29, 1971 by Cardinal John Carberry . He then worked in the pastoral care of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis.

On July 8, 1997, Sheridan was named Titular Bishop of Thibiuca and Auxiliary Bishop in St. Louis by Pope John Paul II . He was ordained episcopal by the Archbishop of Philadelphia, Justin Francis Rigali , on September 3 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Edward Joseph O'Donnell , Bishop of Lafayette , and Edward Kenneth Braxton , Auxiliary Bishop of St. Louis.

On December 4, 2001, Sheridan was appointed coadjutor of Bishop Richard Hanifen in the Diocese of Colorado Springs, Colorado , whom he succeeded as bishop on January 30, 2003.
