Edward Kenneth Braxton (born June 28, 1944 in Chicago ) is an American clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Belleville .

Life

The Archbishop of Chicago , Cardinal John Patrick Cody , ordained him a priest on May 13, 1970 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in Saint Louis and Titular Bishop of Macomades Rusticiana on March 28, 1995 . The Archbishop of Saint Louis , Justin Francis Rigali , donated him episcopal ordination on May 17 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Paul Albert Zipfel , Bishop of Bismarck , and James Terry Steib SVD , Bishop of Memphis .

He was named bishop of Lake Charles on December 12, 2000, and was appointed bishop on February 22 of the next year. He was named Bishop of Belleville on March 15, 2005 and inducted into the office on June 22 of the same year.

On April 3, 2020, Pope Francis accepted Edward Kenneth Braxton's resignation due to reasons of age.
