Richard Charles Patrick Hanifen (born June 15, 1931 in Denver ) is former bishop of Colorado Springs .

Life

Richard Charles Patrick Hanifen was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Denver on June 16, 1951 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 6, 1974 auxiliary bishop in Denver and titular bishop of Abercornia . The Archbishop of Denver, James Vincent Casey , ordained him episcopal on September 20 of that year ; Co- consecrators were George Roche Evans , Auxiliary Bishop of Denver, and Charles Albert Buswell , Bishop of Pueblo .

He was named bishop of Colorado Springs on November 10, 1983, and served on January 30 of the next year. He resigned from his office on January 30, 2003.
