Hans Raffée

Hans Raffée (born August 13, 1929 in Danzig ) is a German economist, university professor and marketing expert.

life and career

The son of a flat glass wholesaler passed his Abitur in 1949 and began studying business administration at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main in 1951 . From 1955 to 1961 he was a research assistant at the University of Frankfurt / M., Where he received his doctorate in 1960.

From 1962 to 1964 he worked as a personal assistant to Josef Neckermann , the owner of Neckermann Versand KG. In 1969 he qualified as a professor and was appointed to the chair for general business administration and marketing II at the University of Mannheim , which he held until his retirement in 1994.

In addition to his research and teaching activities, which took him to China and Japan , Raffée advised companies in the areas of corporate identity , communication planning and new information technologies, trained executives and was chairman of numerous university and non-university committees. His main areas of focus included strategic corporate management, strategic marketing, international marketing, changing values ​​and business ethics.

At the Institute for Market, Environment and Society ( imug ) in Hanover, he has been a board member since it was founded in 1992.

After his retirement in 1994, Raffée made a contribution to the University of Mannheim by building up the graduate association ABSOLVENTUM. The alumni organization, which was founded in 1995, was honored in 1998 by the then Federal President Roman Herzog in Berlin as an innovation in the university sector and three years later won the first prize of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft as the best graduate network in the German-speaking region.

Raffée is involved in the Protestant academics , the Rotarians and the regional synod of the Evangelical Church in Baden .

In 2003 Raffée was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class, for his university, church and cultural commitment .
