Hans Rechenmacher

Hans Rechenmacher (born June 23, 1962 in Triftern ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1981 to 1983 he studied Catholic theology in Munich , from 1983 to 1984 at the Dormition Abbey , from 1984 to 1986 in Munich and from 1986 to 1987 rabbinical literature in Jerusalem ( DAAD- funded). From 1992 to 1995 he was a research assistant to Wolfgang Richter at the Institute for Ugaritic and Hebrew Linguistics and Literature in Munich. After receiving his doctorate in 1994 as Dr. theol. in Munich and his habilitation in 1996 for Old Testament Introduction and Exegesis and Biblical-Oriental Languages ​​at the University of Munich (DFG-funded), he was a private lecturer in Munich from 1997 to 2002 . Since 1992 he has been working on the Biblia Hebraica transcripta project for the electronic recording and processing of the linguistic data of the Bible-Hebrew corpus. From 2002 to 2004 he was an associate professor at Stellenbosch University . Since 2004 he has been a full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts , Class VII World Religions. From 2004 to 2005 he held a chair at the University of Würzburg . From 2005 to 2006 he held a chair at the University of Munich . Since 2006 he has been teaching as a professor for Biblical Introduction and Biblical auxiliary sciences in Würzburg . Since 2011 he has been editor of the series of works on text and language in the Old Testament .

His main research interests are Hebrew syntax, Hebrew personal names, Hebrew databases and poetic texts from the Old Testament, especially the book of Job .
