Hans Rott (philosopher)

Hans Rott (* 1959 in Augsburg ) is a German philosopher.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1978 at Neusäß , he studied logic and philosophy of science, philosophy and German linguistics at LMU Munich from 1978 (1985 MA in logic and philosophy of science) and from 1981 in double studies with mathematics (1983 diploma preliminary examination in mathematics). After receiving his doctorate in 1989 in the subjects of logic and philosophy of science, philosophy and German linguistics at the LMU Munich (speaker Wolfgang Stegmüller ), he was a research assistant at the Institute for Machine Language Processing at the University of Stuttgart from 1989 to 1990 (at the chair for formal logic and philosophy of language, Hans Kamp ). From 1993 to 1994 he was a lecturer at the University of Zurich . From 1990 to 1996 he was a research assistant at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Konstanz (Department of Philosophy, at the Jürgen Mittelstraß chair ). From 1996 to 1997 he was a research assistant there. After receiving his habilitation in philosophy in 1997, he was professor (chair for logic and cognitive science) from 1997 to 1999 at the Philosophy Department, Institute for Humanities at the University of Amsterdam . Since 1999 he has been a professor (chair for theoretical philosophy) at the Institute for Philosophy at the University of Regensburg .

Rott has been a member of the Leopoldina National Academy since 2014 .
