Hans Rudolph Langen , from 1917 von Langen , (born January 26, 1863 in Cologne ; † March 19, 1935 there ) was a German industrialist and landowner.

Life

Hans Rudolph von Langen was a son of Eugen Langen from his first marriage to Henriette Thurneysen. He attended the Realgymnasium in Cologne and studied philology from 1884 to 1888 at the Universities of Bonn and Freiburg. In 1885 he became a member of the Corps Hansea Bonn . In 1888 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. He gained his first professional experience from 1889 to 1890 as manager of a sugar factory in Java and from 1891 to 1892 at the albumine factory in Leiden . As a one-year volunteer, he served in the 2nd Rhenish Hussar Regiment No. 9, in which his last rank was first lieutenant in the reserve. In 1893 he became a partner in the general partnership Pfeifer & Langen and took over the management of the Euskirchen sugar factory. After the company was converted into a GmbH, he became its managing director and, after converting it into a stock corporation, deputy chairman of the supervisory board.

Von Langen was a co-founder of the Gerling Group and since 1907 chairman of the supervisory boards of the group companies. He was a member of the supervisory board of the Rheinische Aktienverein für Zuckerfabrikation, the Barmer Bankverein , the Farbwerke Franz Rasquin AG, the Humboldt-Deutz-Motoren AG and the Evangelical Hospital in Cologne. He was deputy chairman of the board of the steam boiler monitoring association in Cologne.

During the First World War he was a representative of the district administrator of the Adenau district. He was a city councilor and alderman of the city of Euskirchen as well as a district council member of the Euskirchen district and a district council member and first district deputy of the Adenau district.

He ran an estate, the Laufenbacher Hof, near Fuchshofen .

Awards
