Hans Rudolph von Minckwitz

Hans Rudolph von Minckwitz (* 1637 ; † July 24, 1702 in Leipzig ) was a royal Polish and electoral Saxon lieutenant general and governor of Leipzig and heir to Zöpen, Staschwitz and Trachenau.

He came from the Saxon noble family Minckwitz and was there as a colonel in the relief of the imperial residence in Vienna in 1683. During the Battle of Kahlenberg he saved the Elector Johann Georg III. that had come among the enemy, life. Thereupon he was promoted by the elector to major general and got the post of commandant of Dresden . In 1686 he bought the Zöpen estate from Maria von Kitzscher . In 1693 he left the electoral court and was transferred to Leipzig as governor . The position had previously remained vacant for 32 years.

He was buried in the family grave at Gut Zöpen.

Hans Rudolph von Minckwitz was married several times. His first wife was Lady Margarete Aston († November 17, 1672) from London. His second wife was von Brand from House Gleina. His last wife was Euphrosina Lucretia von Döring (born June 15, 1644 - † May 5, 1709)

He had six sons and one daughter, including:

  • Hans Loth († 1700) drowned as a constable sergeant in the Düna .
  • Adam Heinrich (1679–1729) heir to Staschwitz, Weißenfelsischer Oberkammerjunker ∞ Johanna Dorothea von Bünau († 1733)
  • Moritz August (1681–1746), heir to Zöpen, royal Polish and electoral Saxon lieutenant colonel ∞ Helena Hedewig von Osterhausen from the Böhlen house († 1720)
  • Dorothea Sophia
∞ Colonel Gottlob Ernst Ludwig von Wiedemann
∞ Major Peres

Two other sons died as lieutenants.

His brother Rudolph Siegfried von Minckwitz was the governor of Mildenfurth , Zeitzischer district chamber councilor and heir of Falkenhain , Otterwitz, Trautschen and Prößdorf.
