Hans Schlenck

Hans Schlenck (born March 14, 1901 in Bischofsheim an der Rhön ; † November 13, 1944 in Dormánd , Heves County , Hungary ) was a German actor , theater director and theater manager .

Life

After studying at university in Munich , he decided to become an actor and made his debut in Kassel in 1921 . He went on tour with a touring stage and then continued his studies at the University of Göttingen .

After an engagement at the Staatstheater Kassel as an actor, director and dramaturge , he was engaged in 1927 at the Bavarian State Theater in Munich, where he worked as an actor and director. He was the Marquis of Posa in Don Carlos , Fiesko in Fiesko's Conspiracy in Genoa and Tellheim in Minna von Barnhelm , and also a lover and bon vivant in various salon pieces .

In 1933 he became senior director of the State Theater and also artistic director of the Bavarian State Theater. In the same year he also gained popularity as a film actor when he was partner Marianne Hoppes in the title role of Heideschulmeister Uwe Karsten . In 1936 he was promoted to general manager of the Oldenburg State Theater , and in 1940 to general manager of the municipal theaters in Breslau . Schlenck was a member of the SS and belonged to the personal staff of Reichsführer SS Heinrich Himmler . In 1942 he held the rank of SS-Hauptsturmführer. As general manager of the Breslau Municipal Theaters, he made a guest appearance for the second time on March 15, 1943, together with his ensemble, as part of a troop support event in Auschwitz . In 1944 he did military service, where he fell as a lieutenant at the front in Hungary.
