Hans Schmidt (politician, 1910)

Hans Schmidt (born January 6, 1910 in Peine ; † May 18, 1984 in Burgwedel ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After attending elementary school, Hans Schmidt switched to Lehrter Realgymnasium . He then attended the Leipzig Graduate School of Management and the Leipzig University . He completed an apprenticeship in the commercial sector, worked as a commercial clerk and worked abroad for three years. In 1931 he became a union member . In the mineral oil and gas station company Gasolin AG he worked from 1948 to 1969 as chairman of the works council , at times also as chairman of the general works council. At the same time, he took over the chairmanship of the SPD local association from 1948 to 1968, and in 1948 he became a member of the municipal council. He served as mayor from 1952 to 1968 , was elected to the district council from 1956 and was a member of the district committee in 1968. He was a member of the NDR - Broadcasting Council from 1955. For his work was him the Great Cross of Merit awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.

From May 6, 1951 to June 20, 1974, Hans Schmidt was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (2nd to 7th electoral term). In the period from June 10, 1963 to June 5, 1967 he took over the deputy chairmanship of the parliamentary group of the SPD. He also took over the chairmanship of the Baths Subcommittee from October 29, 1963 to January 15, 1965 , and was Chairman of the Election Review Committee from June 21, 1972 to June 20, 1974.

He was married and has three children.
