Hans Schomerus

(Johannes Menko Siegfried) Hans Schomerus (born March 20, 1902 in Villupuram , East India; † May 20, 1969 in Schielberg ) was a German Lutheran theologian and director of the academy. He is considered a prominent representative of the Conservative Revolution . Schomerus is the author of numerous theological, contemporary and cultural history books and articles.

life and work

After studying theology, Schomerus was first assistant chaplain in Hildesheim (1926 to 1927), then from 1928 to 1936 pastor in Wahrenholz / Hanover. From 1936 to 1938 he was cathedral preacher at Braunschweig Cathedral , from 1938 to 1945 he was Ephorus and director of studies at the Wittenberg seminary . 1945 to 1948 he was pastor in Reinbek near Hamburg. In 1948 he was one of the co-founders of the newspaper Christ und Welt , later editor (editor) and author. In 1951, Schomerus succeeded Friedrich Schauer as head of the Baden Evangelical Academy in Bad Herrenalb , and from 1955 to 1967 he was director of the academy.

On September 22, 1961, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Evangelical Theological Faculty of Tübingen . Schomerus was a member of the Occidental Academy and from 1961 to 1969 a member of the Ambassador Club Karlsruhe.
