Hans Schumm (actor)

Hans Josef Schumm , pseudonym Andre Pola , (born April 2, 1896 in Stuttgart , † February 2, 1990 in Los Angeles ) was a German actor .

Life

He made his theater debut in Meißen in 1925 , after having previously worked in other professions. In 1928 he went to the USA. There he played theater and was occasionally seen in films. His career received a considerable boost when, from the beginning of the 1940s, actors of German origin were sought to portray members of the Wehrmacht and SS in anti-Nazi films. During the Second World War, Schumm was usually unnamed in a large number of such Warner Bros. productions as a German uniform.

After the war he appeared in the play A Red Rainbow in 1953 on Broadway . During the 50s he lived in the Federal Republic, but did not get beyond small roles in The Trapp Family and Anders als du und ich . He then returned to America and ended his acting career in the mid-1960s.
