action
The old baker Miller is murdered by a sinister stranger. Gloves Donahue, boss of a group of professional players, finds a lead on the nightclub singer Leda Hamilton, who comes from Germany. She is kidnapped shortly afterwards. Donahue tracks them down at Ebbing's auction house. The company turns out to be a front company of Nazis who are planning acts of sabotage.
criticism
"Sometimes erratically staged spy and agent film based on the clumsy propaganda scheme of Hollywood, with German emigrants (Veidt, Lorre) who are determined to play rogue roles and a brilliantly acting Humphrey Bogart in the lead role."
