Sid Hickox

Sidney Hickox (born July 17, 1895 in New York City , † May 16, 1982 in La Cañada Flintridge ) was an American cameraman.

Life

Hickox started working as a camera assistant in 1915. In 1917 he was drafted into the army and joined a camera unit there. After the war he started working as a cameraman. However, his work was hardly noticed. This changed in the early 1930s, when he spoke of Warner Bros. has been committed. His best work is considered to be the 1946 film Dead Sleeping , in which he did the camera work for Howard Hawks . In 1955, Hickox switched to the television business, where he was responsible for almost all episodes of the Andy Griffith Show , among other things . In 1971 he ended his career.
