The Sauerbornsbach rises in the Vordertaunus south of Kronthaler Str. In the urban area of Königstein - Mammolshain . Its upper course is also called Hollerbornbach ; some also see the Hollerbornbach as the right and the Badbach as the left source brook of the Sauerbornbach.

The Sauerbornsbach initially flows in an easterly direction past the Schafhof (formerly Wiesenhof ). After crossing under Kronthaler Str. , It reaches the boundary of the district and changes to the Kronberg area . At the foot of the Kronberger slope on the left side, from where the Rentbach flows in, the Kronthaler mineral springs and opposite them the small Sauerbornswald . The Sauerbornsbach then crosses an area in which orchards alternate with arable land . It changes its direction of flow to the southeast and flows around the large housing estate Limesstadt from the east . North of the Grumbachweg it flows from the right side of the Grumbach . After crossing under the Limesspange expressway , the Sauerbornsbach reaches the urban area of ​​Schwalbach.

Here it runs parallel to the Wiesenweg and the Ringstrasse , and then joins the Waldbach to the Schwalbach southwest of the main road .
