Hans Schupp

Hans Schupp (born June 10, 1935 in Idar-Oberstein ) is a German mathematician , specialist and textbook author and emeritus university professor for mathematics and its didactics at the University of Saarland .

Life

From 1955 to 1959, Schupp studied geography, mathematics, philosophy and education at Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz and at Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . In 1961 he was promoted to Dr. rer. nat. PhD . This was followed by the first and second state exams in 1962 and 1964, activities as a teacher at the grammar school and as head of mathematics at the study seminar (both in Darmstadt). From 1970 Schupp was professor for didactics of mathematics at the Pedagogical University of the Saarland, which in 1978 was merged into the Saarland University . In 1999 he retired.

Schupp has been a member of the German Mathematicians Association (DMV) since 1971 , and he has been a founding member of the Society for Didactics of Mathematics (GDM) since 1975 , of which he was 1st Chairman from 1979 to 1983. On September 10, 2016, he was made an honorary member of the GDM .
