Hans Sigmund Jaretzki

Hans Sigmund Jaretzki (born June 26, 1890 in Berlin ; † 1956 in London ) was a German architect of Jewish denomination.

Life

Hans Sigmund Jaretzki studied architecture in Berlin, Munich and Dresden until 1914 . From 1919 to 1925 he was employed as an architect in Beuthen , Breslau and Dresden. From 1925 to 1933 he worked as a freelance architect in Berlin.

After he was banned from working in 1933, he emigrated to Great Britain via the Netherlands and France. There he got a work permit as an interior designer . He realized furniture designs and interiors for the furniture manufacturer Alexander Davis, London and collaborated with the architect JS Bramwell. From 1936 he planned - again as a freelance architect - private houses, synagogues and factories.

In 1943 Jaretzki was a founding member of the Association of German and Austrian Architects and Engineers The Circle ; In 1946 he became a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). He died in London in 1956.
