Hans Theile

Hans Theile (* 1971 in the Kassel district ) is a German lawyer and professor at the University of Konstanz .

Life

Theile began studying law in 1991 at the University of Göttingen , which he completed there in 1996 with the first state examination in law. Two years later he did his doctorate with Fritz Loos in Göttingen. jur. This was followed in 1998 by a legal clerkship at the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg , which he completed in 2000 with the second state examination. Theile then worked for a short time as a notary assessor in Dresden before beginning a master’s degree at the University of Cape Town in 2001 , which he completed in 2002 with the title of Master of Laws . In 2002 Theile returned to Germany to work as a research assistant at the University of Münster under Klaus Boers' habilitation. He completed this in 2008 and received the venia legendi for the subjects of criminology, criminal law, criminal procedural law and commercial criminal law.

Before Theile had completed his habilitation in full, he held a chair at the University of Konstanz in the 2007/08 winter semester . In the 2008/09 winter semester, he accepted the chair of criminal law, criminal procedure law, commercial criminal law and criminology, which he has held since then. In addition, Theile has been managing director of the Institute for Legal Facts Research at the University of Konstanz since 2010.

Theile is married to Jana Schumacher, a judge at the Singen district court .
