Hans Theis
Hans Theis (born August 15, 1921 in Niederraden / Eifel ; † August 26, 1975 in Neuerburg / Eifel) was a German author , poet , local historian and local politician from Neuerburg / Eifel.
Life and work
Hans Theis attended high school with the Steyler missionaries in St. Wendel . He then studied education at the Bad Neuenahr Academy .
From 1941 he was first a teacher and then rector of the elementary and secondary school in Neuerburg / Eifel. Hans Theis was significantly involved in the realization of the Neuerburg school center.
From 1949 to 1975 Hans Theis worked as a volunteer local editor for the newspapers " Trierischer Volksfreund ", " Rhein-Zeitung " and " Trierische Landeszeitung ". As head of the adult education center in the Bitburg-Prüm district and the Neuerburg adult education center, he was significantly involved in the expansion of the adult education centers in the Bitburg-Prüm district. He was also an active member of the Eifel Association .

In his free time, his work was primarily focused on his home in the Eifel. His literary work was reflected in well over 150 Eifel sagas, stories and anecdotes in the series "Kelten und Römer", "Franken und Mönche", "Sagen der Heimat" and many articles in the Bitburg-Prüm local calendar. Hans Theis wrote and compiled sagas and stories about the "Neuerburger witch trial in 1632", "Eulenspiegel on the Neuerburger Markt" or "Die Bitburger Geißenströpper".
Political party
As a CDU member, he was represented in the Bitburg-Prüm district committee, the Bitburg-Prüm district council, the Neuerburg city council and the Neuerburg municipal council. In recognition of his services he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from Minister of State Heinrich Holkenbrink .
