Hans Trommer
Hans Trommer (born December 18, 1904 in Zurich ; † February 28, 1989 in Ticino ) was a Swiss film director.
Life
Hans Trommer studied music and volunteered at the theater before assisting film directors such as Richard Oswald and Joe May in Germany . In the following years he directed several short films before making his first feature film, Romeo and Juliet in the village, based on the novel of the same name by Gottfried Keller , which is considered to be his most important work. After that, Trommer worked mainly as a documentary filmmaker and did not shoot another feature film until 1958.
"The importance of this film poet lies in the influence that his first feature film exerted on the new Swiss film, on the actors' logical leadership in dialect play and on the inclusion of the landscape as a dramatic element of tension."
