Grete Natzler ( Della Lind in the USA ; born June 19, 1906 in Vienna , Austria-Hungary ; † June 10, 1999 in Key West , Florida , United States ) was an Austrian actress and operetta singer .

Live and act

Grete Natzler came from an old theater family. She was the daughter of the actor and singer Leopold Natzler (1860-1926) and older sister of the actress Lizzi Natzler and the cousin of the actor Alfred Reginald Natzler, called Reggie Nalder . She was trained as a singer, dancer and actress in her hometown. Grete Natzler's first central engagement took her to the Vienna City Theater in 1927 . There she was used as a singer as well as an actress.

In 1929 the artist made her silent film debut. With the dawn of the sound film age, the Viennese found plenty of work in film. She shot in Berlin and Paris and mostly played supporting supporting roles in cheerful pieces in which she was also allowed to sing. In the spring of 1932 she returned to the stage and appeared in the play Casanova . After the seizure of power , the Jew had to leave Germany and settle in London . There she got roles in film romances with music and singing. In July 1935 Grete Natzler moved to the USA. There she auditioned - unsuccessfully - for a role in the film The Last Gangster in 1937 . Before the end of the year, she landed the leading female role in the Laurel and Hardy film Als Salontiroler . There, and subsequently on stage, where she was seen in The Streets of Paris, Song Without Words, Music in My Heart and The Lady From Paris , she performed under the pseudonym Della Lind.

In the late years of her life, the US citizen (since 1949) was involved in a Laurel & Hardy fan club.
