biography

Hans Wellauer was born on February 7, 1926 as the son of the Frauenfeld construction company Hermann Wellauer. In 1950 he joined his father's company and worked in the construction company until 1995.

In 1958 Wellauer became president of FC Winterthur. In 1963 he was responsible for the engagement of trainer René Hüssy , who became a close companion for Wellauer over the next few years. In 1966, the FCW rose for one season under the leadership of Hüssy in the National League A, but could not hold out at first. Wellauer immortalized himself in the club's history with the commitment of Timo Konietzka in the summer of 1967. With this, the club managed on the one hand to regain status immediately and reached the final of the Swiss Cup in 1967/68 .

When Hüssy left the club in the direction of the Grasshoppers in 1970 and Konietzka as a player-coach at FCZ in 1971 , Wellauer resigned as president that same year after 13 years and was made honorary president of the club. He is currently the President after Hannes W. Keller , who was the second longest in office.

Wellauer attended the FC Winterthur games until his death on February 9, 2014.
