René Hüssy
René Hüssy (born October 19, 1928 in Zurich ; † March 11, 2007 ) was a Swiss football player and coach.
Life
He began his career at GC , where he played all of his active time with the exception of two seasons in Lausanne .
He worked as a coach for FC Winterthur for seven years , making him the longest-serving coach in the club's history. With him, Winterthur rose to the National League A for the first time in 1966, but could not hold out in the following season. In 1968, however, Winterthur managed to get promoted again immediately and made it to the Cup final at the same time.
After leaving Winterthur, he became an ad interim coach of the Swiss national football team . He later worked as a trainer for GC and Lausanne.
After his active coaching career, René Hüssy held various positions in FIFA and UEFA . For example, from 1982 to 1998 he was a member of the Technical Study Group (TSG) of FIFA. For almost 20 years, Hüssy traveled all over the world as a FIFA coaching instructor, helping non-industrialized countries to use the latest training methods and educating their coaches. Between 1982 and 1998, René Hüssy held various official positions within UEFA. For decades he performed important tasks for the USFT (Union of Swiss Football Trainers) and was an honorary member. On May 28, 2002, Hüssy received the FIFA Order of Merit from Sepp Blatter for his life's work.
