Hans Zimmermann (director)

Hans Zimmermann (born October 11, 1901 in Weiach , † October 3, 1976 in Zurich ) was a Swiss director .

Zimmermann was the son of the theologian Arnold Zimmermann (1872–1951). He studied at the Zurich Conservatory and at the Berlin University of Music and worked as a répétiteur , conductor and theater director in Germany and Switzerland. From 1934 to 1937 Zimmermann was director of the City Theater in Bern and from 1937 alternated between senior director and director at the City Theater in Zurich . He was also a guest director at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Zimmermann was also the librettist of Kurt Pahlen 's children's musicals The Fairy Tale of the Princess and the Swineherd and Pinocchio , which he premiered at the Zurich Opera House.
