Hans was in 1555 a member of the Guild of St. Luke in Antwerp, where it is assigned to the 1571st In 1571 he moved to Emden and was accepted there as a citizen and initially as a free master . In 1595 he is still listed as an old man in the office of sign and glass maker and is mentioned as deceased in 1596. With his descendants, mostly of the same name, he founded the branch of the von Coninxloo family of artists in Emden. The art historian Theodor Riewerts saw a close stylistic connection between Coninxloo and Marten vanhaben and concluded from this a common path in education.
