Hansjörg Profanter (born November 28, 1956 in Villnöß , South Tyrol ) is principal trombonist in the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Munich .

Life

Profanter comes from a musical family (his brother Toni Profanter is Kapellmeister and Regional Staff Leader of the Association of South Tyrolean Music Bands), grew up in Villnöß / South Tyrol and joined the Villnöß music band as a trombonist at a young age . He now lives with his family in Munich and in his home town of St. Peter in Villnöß.

education

Between 1973 and 1976 he attended the C. Monteverdi Music Conservatory in Bolzano and Trento with Ennio Guidetti. In 1974 and 1975 he attended summer courses with Bruno Ferrari in Lanciano. Between 1977 and 1978 he studied trombone with Michael Stern at the Innsbruck Conservatory.

Career

In 1977 he got his first engagement as a solo trombonist at the Teatro Regio in Turin . In 1978 he was solo trombonist with the Bavarian State Orchestra in Munich under W. Sawallisch. In 1979 he moved to the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under R. Kubelik in the same position to which he still belongs today.

In addition to the usual obligations as a trombonist, he plays various special instruments such as the bass trumpet in the recording of the Ring of the Nibelung under B. Haitink, or the tenor tuba (pictures at an exhibition, Don Quixote, flute concerto by L. Maazel). Hansjörg Profanter is also invited as a guest with orchestras such as the Orchestra of the Accademia nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome , the Bamberg Symphony , the Berlin Philharmonic and others. He also makes regular appearances as a soloist with orchestra, trombone and piano, trombone and organ, etc. Since 1984 Hansjörg Profanter has been a permanent member of the "Munich Gabrieli Ensemble" for which he has written numerous arrangements. He also works with the Bavaria brass soloists and the Xsemble Munich (contemporary music). In 1980 Profanter won a prize at the Concorso Viotti International Competition in Vercelli. In his free time he also likes to play with the music band in his home town Villnöß.
