Hansjörg Schmidt (born October 29, 1974 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since March 2011 .

Professional and private

After graduating from high school in 1994 and studying computer science , Schmidt and four fellow students founded the software company WICE GmbH in 2001 , of which he is the marketing and sales manager.

Political career

Schmidt has been a member of the SPD since 1993. From 1997 he represented the party in the district assembly Hamburg-Mitte . From 2001 to 2008 he was deputy chairman of the parliamentary group there, and from 2008 to 2011 chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. In the Hamburg state election in 2008 , he ran for the SPD in the Hamburg-Mitte constituency . With 8.0 percent of the vote, however, he missed entry into the citizenry.

In the state elections in Hamburg in 2011 , he ran again in constituency 1. This time he won direct entry into parliament with 10.2 percent of the vote. He has been a member of the Hamburg Parliament since March 7, 2011 . During this legislative period he was the specialist spokesman for media and network policy of the SPD and a member of the culture committee, the constitution committee, the parliamentary investigation committee "Elbphilharmonie" and chairman of the committee for economy, innovation and media.

In the Hamburg state elections in 2015 , he again won a direct mandate for citizenship with 14.6 percent of the votes in constituency 1. There he is a member of the culture committee and the committee for economy, innovation and media. He is the economic policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group.

He has been a member of the NDR Broadcasting Council since 2017.

On February 23, 2020, Schmidt was able to move into the Hamburg citizenship again .
